A dive into the past: from the Malga to the Albergo Diffuso

Hi,

today I would like to share with you a precious memory that dates back to my childhood, when I spent the summers in an enchanted malga called Malga Quarti di Verena.

As I think back to those days of joy and adventure, I realize the surprising similarities that exist between that magical experience and the Albergo Diffuso that I had the privilege of opening as an entrepreneur.

The malga was a place of rustic and authentic life, immersed in the luxuriant nature of the mountains. Even in the Albergo Diffuso, we are surrounded by the scenic beauty and warmth of a local community that gives life to our project.

But let’s go in order and start from the beginning.

When I was a child, the malga was populated by cows, pigs, chickens and ducks. These animals were an essential part of our daily life and contributed to the production of delicious cheeses and cured meats. Working closely with animals has taught me the value of hard work, patience and a love of the land. Today, in our Albergo Diffuso, we have embraced the philosophy of sustainability and are committed to using local, high-quality products in our breakfasts, just as we did in the malga.

One of the things I loved most was Sunday, a special day when picnics were de rigueur. Families and friends gathered to enjoy an outdoor lunch, surrounded by unspoilt nature and the scent of flowery meadows. This sense of community and sharing is what we try to recreate in our Albergo Diffuso. We often encourage opportunities for dialogue that allow guests to share experiences and create meaningful bonds, just like we did when we gathered in the malga to spend unforgettable moments together.

But don’t be fooled by the idea that summers in the malga were just joy and light-heartedness. During the week, they worked hard. Animals had to be tended, cows milked and cheese made. It was hard work that required discipline and dedication. Even in the management of the Albergo Diffuso, there is no shortage of challenges and hard work. But just like when I was a child, I am driven by passion and a desire to offer our guests an authentic and memorable experience.

Today, after forty years, I have fulfilled my dream of transforming the essence of that wonderful period spent in the malga into something bigger: the Albergo Diffuso.

I am grateful for every step of my journey, for every challenge I overcome, and for the opportunity to share my story with you.

Looking at these photos, you can see that the smile we wore on our faces hasn’t changed over the years. Even if many things have changed, the joy of sharing my passion for hospitality and the beauty of the places around us remains intact.
