Why is the Albergo Diffuso a sustainable structure?

We live in a strange world.

In a news article today, I read that the main market trends, which are likely to materialise on the horizon after the health emergency, will be:

  • DIGITALISATION
  • HEALTH
  • GREEN ECONOMY

But how long have we been talking about the GREEN ECONOMY?

A lot of years.

After this media bombardment on environmental sustainability, I realised that we can all do something in our own small way to help the earth that hosts us.

It is not a drop in the ocean. If we all do something, it could become a big river, like the Amazon River.

With this article I want to explain the two main reasons why the Albergo Diffuso is a sustainable structure:

  • We didn’t build a new structure, but we recovered rooms by renovating them
Today, reusing things, without throwing them away to buy new ones, should be in the mind of any consumer. The construction of a new building would have entailed an incredible commitment of energy and resources, and would have forced us to sacrifice part of our beautiful land, consisting of meadows and forests. The renovation, on the other hand, required energy and resources, but allowed us to revalue an old building. Basically, we used an old resource to bring it back to life and give it new life, without breaking new ground.
  • The Albergo Diffuso promotes tourism that is much more sustainable than classic tourism
The traditional hotel trend is based on the equation: more services = more customers. Does this seem sustainable to you? Absolutely NO to me. This is why the type of tourism proposed by the Albergo Diffuso is, in my opinion, much more sustainable (I also talk about this in the article “Do you want to live an experience or just a holiday?”).

And what do you think?

What, in your opinion, makes up SUSTAINABLE TOURISM?

I invite you to leave a comment.

Thank you!
