How to become a resident of an ancient village for one or more days even if you are actually a tourist

Hi,
It must have happened to you too to visit some ancient village in Italy and feel like a tourist. Mind you, there is nothing wrong with feeling like a tourist and enjoying a well-deserved holiday. What distinguishes a tourist from a resident, however, is immediately noticeable in the relationship, albeit fleeting, with other people.

If the village is small, everyone knows each other and there is no escape.

If the village is rather large, however, the traits that turn a person into a tourist may be:

  • Clothing
  • The camera around my neck
  • Walking down the street with family or friends in tow
  • That sense of joy bursting from your eyes at the exploration you are experiencing
  • The accent that changes in Italy within a few kilometres

The philosophy of the Albergo Diffuso is not to make you look like a tourist in the eyes of others. But it is to give you an experience as if you were a resident of that village.

For the immersion to be total, you have to find a village prepared to welcome a ‘new resident’.

So, you can happily be a tourist and wear whatever clothing you think is appropriate, feel free to have your camera around your neck, etc. etc. You will find people waiting for you who tend to be open and open to discussion.

LUSIANA CONCO, the municipality where Antico Borgo Brunelli is located, has always historically been a place of cultural exchange with a history dating back more than 11,000 years (there was a prehistoric settlement in the nearby Lastaro Valley).

To feel part of the life that is lived daily in Antico Borgo Brunelli today, you simply have to rely on the atmosphere here.

In a holiday, it is not the number of museums or attractions within reach that makes the difference. It is that thing that cannot be explained in words and is a collection of small, sometimes very small, elements. It is precisely the ATMOSPHERE that you BREATHE.

Atmosphere can be made up of places, people, architectural elements, street names, views, scents and an infinity of other things.

One thing you should know is that here, historically, man has always fought to obtain the main source of life: water. Being a karst terrain, as is the entire Asiago Plateau 7 Municipalities, it was difficult to find water sources.

You will therefore be able to walk along our valleys generated by the ancient phenomenon of water erosion and at the same time admire many wells built in ancient times.

All this will create the atmosphere for your next holiday.
