Holidays on the Asiago Plateau

Why visit the Asiago Plateau?

The Asiago Plateau is an area of unspoilt nature located in the province of Vicenza that every year fascinates its visitors with its colours and thanks to a vast offer of activities that can appeal to families, ranging from history, food, sport, relaxation and fun.

What to see when we go on holiday to the Asiago Plateau?

The historical centre of Asiago, being on the border with Trentino, is surrounded by its beautiful mountains and is able to give those who visit it that tranquillity that only a mountain village can give.
The small, lively town was at the centre of clashes between Austrians and Italians during the Great War.
Today, the city is a veritable open-air museum where you can retrace some of the moments of the First World War.

In fact, on the Plateau of the Seven Municipalities, it is possible to visit some of the forts used during the First World War, many of which have become museums where war relics, period photographs and historical documents are on display.
The largest of these is Fort Corbin, built near the village of Treschè Conca, but it is not the only one. Nearby we can also visit Fort Interrotto, Fort Campolongo and Fort Verena.

Numerous nature trails start from the plateau and it is also possible to ride them with your children.
Among the paths that can be walked is the Sentiero del silenzio, a one-and-a-half-kilometre route that retraces some of the trenches of the Great War.
On the path we can find works that recall the past, but also others that stimulate reflections towards the future.

What to do? Solutions also suitable for those travelling with children:

Among the activities we recommend are nature walks, where you can walk from flower to flower with your children, clear your head of everyday thoughts and breathe in the pure air that characterises the place.

There are a number of educational farms on the plateau, which are farms that aim to spread knowledge of rural activities, an experience suitable for young and old, who will also be educated in respect for the environment through direct experience with the farm.

One of the most popular trails is the Peace Trail, which is part of a longer route of more than 120 km and links many World War I sites on the Italian-Austrian border and ends at Bocchetta Portule at an altitude of around 1900 metres.

If you want to take postcard shots, you can visit Millepini Park, an ideal place to spend a fun and relaxing day even with your children.
From here, a tourist train will take you to the city’s places of interest.

For sports enthusiasts:

For those who love sport and cannot give it up even on holiday, the Asiago plateau is the ideal destination. Its nature allows for so many activities:
The place is characterised by many paths that can be followed by running, mountain biking and even horseback riding.
During fine weather, it is possible to practice sports such as orieenting and climbing, bungee jumping and paragliding, while in the winter season, when the snow whitens the valleys, it is possible to go cross-country skiing.

Orienteering is a sport that is practised outdoors in close contact with nature, using
compasses and GPS. It consists of reaching checkpoints through marked indications
on topographic maps.
This natural sport allows you to discover the beauty of the area on which it is practised. Suitable
even to children.

Food:

The world-famous Asiago DOP cheese is certainly not the only flagship of this
territory, in fact the green of its pastures and the healthy mountain air are able to give us
unique and genuine flavours.
In addition to the prestigious milk from which the best dairy products are made, the Asiago plateau is full of
of forests where various species of flowers suitable for beekeeping flourish, so it is absolutely
to try the organic honey from its mountains.

Thanks to the diversity of plants growing on the plateau, it is possible to taste delicious
jams, such as berry, strawberry, blueberry and raspberry.

Among the typical dishes you absolutely must try are the tosella with mushrooms and polenta, bigoli and the
torta Ortigara, a simple, tasty and soft local cake.

Where to sleep:

Do you know what a albergo diffuso is? We will explain it to you.

An Albergo Diffuso is a comprehensive hotel service that combines existing potential on the
territory.
The Albergo Diffuso model stems from the need to counteract the migration effect in small villages
and promotes the development of sustainable tourism. As it is proposed to use less energy
for the construction of new facilities by upgrading old buildings and avoiding sacrificing part
of the territory.

You can experience life in a historical centre while counting on all hotel services
staying in houses that are less than 200 metres from a single reception, common areas and
refreshment.

In Luisiana – Conco the first Albergo Diffuso in the Veneto region was born, characterised by an excellent
hospitality of the owners.
The hotel was born from the idea of restoring an old stable, making it today a truly
hospitable place to stay and visit all the beauties of this magnificent village.

Thanks to Antico Borgo Brunelli, you can experience sustainable tourism in a
holiday discovering history, nature and fun. A place also suitable for those travelling with
children.
